L’amore di Cristo ci possiede – 2 Cor 5,14−15 nell’interpretazione di san Tommaso d’Aquin

Abstract

Siamo abituati che il pensiero teologico di san Tommaso d’Aquino venga presentato secondo la sua più famosa, più matura e più studiata opera, cioè la Somma di Teologia, il che fa sì che spesso non conosciamo il suo pensiero, altrettanto maturo, importante e valido, contenuto nelle sue altre opere, soprattutto in quelle esegetiche, visto che egli non ha mai insegnato la Summa, ma, essendo magister in Sacra Pagina, la sua attività universitaria consisteva soprattutto nel commentare la Bibbia (ma anche nel sostenere le dispute: private – soltanto per i propri studenti; e pubbliche, alle quali potevano partecipare gli studenti e i professori dall’esterno). In questo studio verrà presentato il commento di san Tommaso al testo di 2 Cor 5,14–15 cominciando, ma solo per curiosità, dalla sua Somma di Teologia, per poi passare alla sua interpretazione contenuta nel commento al Corpus Paulinum, confrontando il pensiero teologico-biblico dell’Aquinate con quello odierno (solo in relazione ad alcuni autori).

We Wstępie – aby rozwiać błędne, ale rozpowszechnione mniemania o działalności uniwersyteckiej św. Tomasza z Akwinu, który nigdy nie wykładał swojej Sumy Teologii, lecz Pismo Święte – Akwinata jest przedstawiony jako egzegeta Pisma Świętego, gdyż w jego czasach profesor teologii był magister in Sacra Pagina, czyli zajmował się właśnie egzegezą Pisma Świętego. Analiza 2 Kor 5,14–15 jest podzielona na cztery punkty: I – 2 Kor 5,14 w Sumie Teologii; II – Tekst 2 Kor 5,14–15, jego podział i komentarz; III – 2 Kor 5,14–15 w komentarzu do Ewangelii Jana; IV – 2 Kor 5,14–15 w komentarzu do Psalmów. Teksty komentarzy Akwinaty są konfrontowane ze współczesnymi komentarzami biblijnymi, co pozwala na zauważenie różnic w podejściu do tekstów świętych, a także dostrzec bogactwo myśli teologiczno-biblijnej, moralnej i duchowej Doktora Anielskiego. Ta myśl jest nadal bardzo aktualna i pozwala na ciągłe trwanie w nauce, moralności i duchowości Kościoła Chrystusowego.

In the presentation of the subject – preceded by an Introduction, where St. Thomas Aquinas is presented in his role as a Biblical Commentator – the author examines the St. Thomas’ interpretation of the 2 Cor 5,14–15 regarding the theme of this research, confronted with the contemporary exegesis, and presents four points: I – 2 Cor 5,14 in the Summa of Theology; II – The text of the 2 Cor 5,14–15, his division and commentary; III – 2 Cor 5,14–15 in the commentary on the Gospel of John; IV – 2 Cor 5,14–15 in the commentary on the Psalms. The exposition is theological, biblical, doctrinal, moral, and spiritual, and is not based so much on his speculative philosophy, as might be seen in his systematic theology, but on a truly theological interpretation of the Scriptural texts. All this permits to the author to conclude that the interpretation presented by St. Thomas in the Commentary on the 2 Cor 5,14–15 and in the commentaries on the Gospel of John and on the Psalms is very clear, rich and remains valid and topical and permits to remain in the faith, in the doctrine moral and in the spirituality of the catholic Church.
