Abstract

Chociaż Joseph Ratzinger skupiał się w pracy naukowej na problematyce teologii dogmatycznej i fundamentalnej, to kwestie etyczne nigdy nie były dla niego drugorzędne. Już jako młody teolog zaangażowany w dzieło odnowy Kościoła podkreślał związek etosu z osobą Jezusa Chrystusa. Kryterium etyczne odgrywało według Ratzingera istotną rolę w rozpoznaniu autentyczności lub braku autentyczności postulowanej odnowy. Obok podejmowania problemów szczegółowych powracał do zasadniczej kwestii związku norm moralnych z Bogiem, Bogiem Świętym i troszczącym się o człowieka, Stwórcą będącym ostatecznym Źródłem bytu, Ojcem, Synem i Duchem Świętym, który pragnie wprowadzić człowieka do wspólnoty życia poprzez uczynienie go sprawiedliwym. Although Joseph Ratzinger focused his academic work on dogmatic and fundamental theology, ethical issues were never secondary to him. Even as a young theologian involved in the work of renewing the Church, he emphasised the connection between ethos and the person of Jesus Christ. According to Ratzinger, ethical criteria played an important role in recognising the authenticity or lack thereof of the proposed renewal. In addition to addressing specific issues, he returned to the fundamental question of the relationship between moral norms and God, the Holy God who cares for man, the Creator who is the ultimate Source of being, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who desires to bring man into the community of life by making him righteous. In basic moral norms, we recognise the image of God. Ethics is the place where one either professes Him or rejects Him. The loss of the true image of God, who is Reason and Goodness, leads to ethical confusion, destroys the foundations of social life and opens the door to endless violence.
