    „Vir bellator omnes sectas contrarias veritati interficiet". Antyheretycka polemika Hieronima ze Strydonu w komentarzach do Nowego Testamentu

    Przedmiotem dysertacji jest polemika Hieronima ze Strydonu z herezjami, obecna w jego komentarzach do Nowego Testamentu. Pierwszy człon tytułu pra­cy pochodzi z expositio księcia egzegetów do Ef 6, 11. Rozwinięty przez Hieronima na bazie komentowanego wersetu ideał vir bellator, który przy użyciu miecza Bożego słowa unicestwia wszelkie odłamy sprzeciwiające się uznanej prawdzie Wielkiego Ko­ścioła, doskonale koresponduje z modus operandi samego Strydończyka wobec heretyków. W refutacji różnych poglądów heterodoksyjnych Hieronim daje się poznać jako tytułowy vir bellator, który łą­czy w sobie nade wszystko elokwencję princeps exegetarum z nieustępliwością defensor fidei. W pracy szczegółowo przeanalizowano antyheretycką myśl pustelnika z Betlejem w jego pięciu komenta­rzach do Nowego Testamentu, a zatem w powsta­łych bezpośrednio po osiedleniu się w Ziemi Świę­tej czterech komentarzach do listów Pawłowych, tj. w Ad Philemonem, Ad Galatas, Ad Ephesios i Ad Titum (386-387), oraz w zredagowanym w 398 r. komentarzu egzegetycznym In Matthaeum. Ustale­nie takiego obszaru badań nad polemiczną refleksją Hieronima pozwoliło na przeanalizowanie jego sto­sunku do heterodoksyjnych tez orygenizmu przed i po wybuchu kontrowersji wokół hipotez Aleksan­dryjczyka w 393 r. w Palestynie. The topic of this doctoral dissertation is the pole­mics of Jerome of Stridon against heresies present in his commentaries on the New Testament. The first part of the title of this work comes from the expositio of the Prince of Exegetes on Eph. 6:11. The ideal of vir bellator, developed by Jerome on the basis of this verse, who, through the use of the sword of the word of God, annihilates all factions opposing the recognized truth of the Great Church, perfectly corresponds to the modus operandi of the Stridonian himself towards heretics. In the refuta­tion of various heterodox views, Jerome makes him­ self known as the titular vir bellator, who above all combines the eloquence of the princeps exegetarum with the tenacity of the defensor fidei. The dissertation analyzes in detail the anti-heretical thought of the Monk of Bethlehem in his five commentaries on the New Testament: the four commentaries he wrote immediately after settling in the Holy Land, on the Pauline Epistles, that is, in Ad Philemonem, Ad Galatas, Ad Ephesios and Ad Titum (386-387), along with his exegetical commentary edited in 398, In Matthaeum. Establishing this scope of research on the polemic reflections of Jerome makes it possi­ble to analyze his attitude to the heterodox theses of Origenism before and after the outbreak of the con­ troversy surrounding the hypotheses of the Alexan­ drian in 393 in Palestine.
