    A Visionary and Realist. Idzi Radziszewski: Founder of the Catholic University of Lublin is a potted biography of the Rev. Idzi Radziszewski and a record of his successful efforts to establish the University of Lublin. The work focuses entirely on Radziszewski, his scholarly pursuits across European countries, and studies at various academic centres before he finally settled in Lublin in 1918, at that time located in the heart of reborn Poland, to launch his university project. The book reports the most distinctive facts of the Rev. Radziszewski’s life and scientific activity. The authors provide information about his family home, studies at the divinity school in Włocławek and at the Imperial Roman Catholic Theological Academy in Saint Petersburg, doctoral training at Leuven, Belgium. They share facts of Radziszewski’s work as regent at the divinity school in Włocławek, his return to Saint Petersburg to assume the position of rector of the Theological Academy, his relationship with the Polish community in the city on the Neva River, his early plan to establish a higher education institution in Poland. Next, the authors cover Redziszewski’s arrival in Lublin and efforts to bring his plans to fruition and his attempts to secure approval from ecclesiastical authorities and the central administration to open a university, his rectorship and early operation of the new institution, and finally Radziszewski’s illness and death. The main body of the book closes with a narrative on the operation of the Catholic University of Lublin over the decades that followed and until the present day. The book abounds in valuable archival material. In addition to records from the Archives of the Catholic University of Lublin, the authors explore the resources from Saint Petersburg archives (the Central State Historical Archives of the City of Saint Petersburg; the Russian State Historical Archives in Saint Petersburg). Some other useful sources are documents from Warsaw-based archives (the Central Archives of Modern Records; the Archives of the Warsaw University of Technology) and the Lithuanian Central State Archive in Vilnius. On top of that, the book offers a rich iconographic and visual material, both historical and contemporary.

    Akredytowanie rynku usług edukacyjnych. Aktualne rozwiązania prawne na przykładzie placówek kształcenia ustawicznego

    Akredytacja będąca gwarantem jakości jest odpowiedzią na rozwój globalny w wielu dziedzinach życia społecznego. Taką dziedziną jest również kształcenie. Stąd też placówki kształcenia legitymujące się posiadaniem certyfikatu stanowią wiarygodne miejsce zdobywania nowych kompetencji. W artykule podjęto się próby przedstawienia problematyki akredytacyjnej na kanwie obowiązujących przepisów prawa. Za pomocą metody analizy normy prawnej jednoznacznie wskazano na zasadność zarówno ubiegania się o akredytację, jak i jej uzyskiwa­nia. W konkluzji sformułowano tezę, że w kontekście wartości, jaką jest akredy­tacja, powinna ona mieć cechy obligatoryjności, nie zaś – jak to jest w aktualnych przepisach prawa – jedynie fakultatywności.
